Meadow Format gets its name from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) that held place in Meadowlands, New Jersey, from May 11 to 12, 2013.

This event marked the end of an era because it was the first Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series in which Hidden Arsenal 7: Knight of Stars was legal and one previous week of the official release of Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy, booster pack that brings 2 tier zero decks (Dragon Rulers, Spellbook of Judgment) to the competitive environment, obliterating all previous meta decks/gameplay.

Top 16 event were highly represented by Mermail and Firefist variants (decks that borns on the two previous booster pack sets releases), Monomermail, piloted by Tyree Tinsley, won the YCS – Meadowlands Championship, but simultaneously, we found that previous year meta decks that was heavily touched in banlists, found a place on this top like Inzektors or Wind-up adaptations to the meta.

Also there was some decks of other popular eras like Edison Format that still have presence in the meta gameplay in Meadow Format, Machina and Hero are a couple of examples.

More than 3 years between both eras and these decks can have a chance to be on whichever of the 16 spots of the highest competitive level events of the era, showing that this format make possible to be competitive with strategies from old, mid or recent releases with a healthy balanced gameplay.
